Below, I outline what services I offer, what you can expect when working with me, and what the key points are in the process.
Site Development Plans
When we start a new development, we first confirm the stand size.
Next, we discuss your building needs and your vision for the project.
We check if the planned size and number of units fit on your chosen stand.
Then, we seek approval. I’ll assess if the local authority will likely approve the project. I review their allowed site coverage, required parking spaces, and plans for roads, utilities, and services in their local land-use scheme.
I also engage with the local authority to ensure their systems for sewer, electricity, and water can manage the increased demand.
Finally, I design the building layout and create a first site plan that meets all local authority requirements.
This plan provides a clear picture of how your project can proceed.
Consulting
During our consultation, you share your development ideas with me. This helps me design the buildings and plan the layout.
After I finalize the building plans, I submit the site development plan to the local authority for approval.
House Plans
When we meet to plan a new house, you tell me the rough size and layout you have in mind.
To help us get on the same page, I ask you to bring a simple scaled sketch of your ideas. This is because people often have different ideas about the size of bedrooms, kitchens, and lounges. With your sketch, we can agree more quickly and I can create a first design for you sooner.
If you’re looking to add to an existing house, you may also need “as-built” plans. Often, homeowners find that the local authority doesn’t have up-to-date plans on file. In that case, I can measure your house and draw accurate “as-built” plans before we design the addition.

Professional Architectural Draughtsman
Willie discovered his interest in building plans while studying Environmental Health. Part of his training was to check plans for health concerns, and this sparked his passion.
He started drawing plans as a hobby in 1979, and that hobby soon became his full-time work.
What Willie designs:

new houses and retail shops
additions and alterations to existing buildings
housing and business complex developments
“as built” plans when the originals are missing
Willie is known for careful, detailed drawings, and he enjoys visiting a finished site to see a sketch on paper turned into a real building.
Most of his projects are in the Govan Mbeki Municipality, with more work completed in Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and Middelburg. He is registered with SACAP, so he can submit plans to any municipality in South Africa.
Willie believes good plans build healthy, safe spaces for everyone, and he looks forward to helping with the next development.
